Jeroen Ritsema joined the Department of Geological Sciences in September of 2005. Before coming to Ann Arbor, he was a Professor at the IPG Paris and a senior research fellow at the California Institute of Technology. He received his PhD in 1995 from the University of California at Santa Cruz and his B.Sc degree in 1988 from the University of Utrecht.

His research involves seismic tomography, waveform modeling and the analysis of 3D numerical waveform simulations. In collaboration with other geophysicists, he interprets seismic images to constrain Earth's composition and dynamic processes.

There are opportunities for new graduate students! Please contact Professor Ritsema by e-mail. For information about graduate school at the University of Michigan and for application materials, click here.
